PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Luger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Horizon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horizon has chosen Bring your whole crew as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Luger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evan Horizon!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horizon gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Luger fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Horizon throws a big shot that misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Horizon has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Horizon with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Luger throws an off balance right hand
and Horizon counters with a slapping leg kick.
Luger throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Horizon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Luger was well out of range. Poor timing from Horizon.
Horizon takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Luger lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A slow jab from Luger misses its intended target.
Horizon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Evan Horizon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Luger slips under a jab from Horizon.
Luger slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Horizon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Luger was covering up waiting for the punch and Horizon finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Luger pushes Horizon off and gets back to his feet.
Luger connects with a body shot that sends Horizon's belly button to the back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Luger pushes Horizon away with a front kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Luger misses the target.
Horizon gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Luger counters with a straight right hand.
Luger lands a jab to the nose.
Horizon takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Horizon throws the left hand but Luger avoids the punch easily.
It looks like Luger has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Luger misses with a body shot.
Luger stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Horizon.
Luger moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Luger cracks Horizon with a right hand to the side of the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Luger. Horizon does a little dance to reset his feet.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Horizon.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Luger throws a front kick aimed at Horizon's knee but Horizon avoids it well.
Luger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Horizon misses the shot to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Luger on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Luger tries to work over Horizon's front leg with a kick but Horizon checks it.
Horizon scores with a shot to the body.
Shane Luger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Horizon lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Luger is breathing heavily.
Luger on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


It looks like Shane Luger has been cut.
Horizon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A quick step to the side and Luger tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Luger misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Horizon.
Horizon tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Horizon, right into the meat.
Horizon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Horizon throws a nice inside leg kick.
Luger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Horizon moves away.
Luger stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Horizon.

Horizon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Luger wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Horizon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Luger wants to sweep here but Horizon controlling him for the moment.
Horizon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Luger not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Horizon is standing up over Luger. Luger looks to escape but Horizon dives into side control.
Horizon content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Luger tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Horizon advances to mount.
Horizon controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shane Luger will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Shane Luger's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Horizon lands a big head kick that sends Luger tumbling to the mat! Horizon takes a step backwards and waves Luger back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Luger takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Horizon misses with a takedown
and Luger counters with a nice uppercut.
Luger cracks Horizon with an open hand slap.
Horizon looking to land some kicks to the body here.
An inside leg kick from Horizon misses.
Luger throws a quick counter kick to the body but Horizon avoids it.
Horizon defending well as Luger loads up on a big left hand.
Luger scores with a hook to the body. Horizon takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Good work by Luger as he checks the leg kick.
Luger lands with a cross.
Horizon lands with an overhand left.
Horizon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Luger manages to avoid it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Horizon.

Horizon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Luger circles away quickly and effectively.
Luger cracks the inside of Horizon's front leg.
Luger throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Horizon feints a counter leg kick.
Horizon takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A jab from Luger finds it's way through Horizon's defenses.
Luger just misses with a punch to the body.
Horizon tries to land a body kick
and Luger counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


Horizon is rocked!
Luger moves out of range of the strikes.
Horizon is still on wobbly legs! Can Luger finish him?
Horizon tries to get into range but Luger steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Horizon! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Luger scores the big KO victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Shane Luger!
A relieved looking Shane Luger thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
