Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mortimer Munson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermaine Barksdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barksdale has chosen Ain't No Sunshine- DMX as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munson connects with a right hand. Barksdale shakes it off.
Munson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barksdale manages to avoid it.
Barksdale is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Barksdale digs a good body shot into Munson's ribs.
Munson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Munson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Munson misses with a low kick.
Barksdale tries a head kick but it misses.
Barksdale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Barksdale tests Munson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Barksdale throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Munson throws a chopping leg kick but Barksdale manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Munson lands a leg kick that knocks Barksdale off balance momentarily.
Barksdale lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Munson at a distance.

Barksdale throws out a loose jab but Munson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barksdale with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Munson to score with a decent uppercut.

Barksdale tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Barksdale throws out a counter right but Munson avoids it with no problem.
Barksdale connects with a body shot that sends Munson's belly button to the back.

Nice defenses there by Munson.
Barksdale closes the distance and lands a one-two.
It looks like Mortimer Munson has been cut.
Munson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Munson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barksdale moves away.
Munson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Barksdale forces Munson back against the cage and clinches.
Munson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Munson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Barksdale pulls his leg out and moves away.
Munson shoots in looking for a takedown. Barksdale tries to sprawl out of it but Munson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barksdale manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mortimer Munson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Munson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Barksdale.

and Barksdale counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Barksdale throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Munson's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Barksdale dives in looking to finish as Munson flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Barksdale's strikes! Barksdale is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Munson's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Munson was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
