PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Rousey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rousey comes to the cage accompanied by Creepy Jackalope Eye by Supersuckers. Reynolds comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Numb/Encore kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 1, fighting out of London, Ronald Rousey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Travis Reynolds!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reynolds is looking to clinch but Rousey is avoiding it.
Rousey changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Rousey tries to score with a low kick but Reynolds moves his leg out of the way.
Reynolds takes a swing at Rousey's ribcage but misses.
Rousey looks to score with a jab to the body but Reynolds is just out of range.

Rousey takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rousey tries to counter with a takedown but Reynolds is quick to defend against it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reynolds lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Rousey backwards.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rousey creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

I was talking to Rousey's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Reynolds throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rousey blocks it with crossed arms.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rousey feints a jab promting Reynolds to slip. Rousey then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Reynolds slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Rousey walks into a left hand.
Reynolds lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rousey backs up against the cage.


It looks like Ronald Rousey has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reynolds lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rousey's sensitive parts.
Rousey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Reynolds misses with a double jab.
Rousey scores with a body shot.
Reynolds tries to clinch up.
Rousey half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Reynolds misses with a straight right.
Reynolds scores with a hook to the body. Rousey takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rousey throws a solid leg kick but Reynolds takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Rousey.
Rousey throws a hook to the side of Reynolds's head but Reynolds sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Reynolds cracks Rousey with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Reynolds stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rousey.

enabling Reynolds to counter with a crisp jab.
Good work by Reynolds as he checks the leg kick.
Reynolds throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rousey tries for a takedown but Reynolds sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

so Rousey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Rousey passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Reynolds!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reynolds has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Rousey is landing big shots and Reynolds is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!
