The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reach stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nice sprawl there from Reach as Machado shoots in.
Reach looks to land a combination. Machado sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Machado has his takedown stuffed
and Reach counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Machado thinking.
Machado fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Reach is looking for the big counter here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Machado closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Reach did well to prevent Machado getting side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machado is looking for a kimura but Reach is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Machado to get the leverage.

Still in half guard, Machado seems content to control.

Machado is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reach doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Machado.

Machado looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Machado uses his free foot to push down on Reach's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Reach.

Machado has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Machado has hold of Reach's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Reach manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Machado working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Reach turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Machado off and cradles Reach's limp body as Machado celebrates with his corner.
