The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fawkes connects with a single shot there.
Mctavish lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hamish Mctavish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mctavish tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fawkes defends well and Mctavish ends up having to push Fawkes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Mctavish blocks a head kick by Fawkes.
Mctavish attempts a counter takedown but Fawkes avoids it well and moves away.
Fawkes connects with an inside leg kick.
Mctavish fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mctavish shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Fawkes counters with a left to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hamish Mctavish. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mctavish is looking to clinch but Fawkes is avoiding it.
Mctavish dives in and grabs Fawkes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fawkes pushes down on Mctavish's head and hops out.
Mctavish backing away here, and Fawkes unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Mctavish darts in looking for a takedown but Fawkes gets double underhooks and turns Mctavish into the cage.
Fawkes let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Mctavish fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mctavish shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fawkes stuffs the takedown attempt from Mctavish. Mctavish gets slowly back to his feet.
Mctavish is breathing heavily.
Mctavish shoots in for a double leg but Fawkes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
It seemed like Fawkes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Fawkes lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mctavish takes a step back to recover.
Fawkes swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mctavish.
Mctavish will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fawkes lands a brutal uppercut that launches Mctavish off his feet! Mctavish tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
