Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Takeshi Naoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DJ Boom has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Takeshi Naoki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takeshi Naoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Boom!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom feints a jab promting Naoki to slip. Boom then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Naoki slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Naoki moves into the clinch.
Boom managing to block the knees to the body from Naoki.
Boom gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Naoki.
Naoki misses with a hook to the ribs.
Boom throws a head punch that misses.
A shot in the inside from Naoki.
Naoki tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Boom avoids it.
Boom misses with some punches.
Naoki works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boom swings wildly with an uppercut but Naoki uses good head movement to avoid it.

Naoki changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Boom fights it off and pushes away nicely.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Naoki creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Boom throws a head punch that misses.

Naoki turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Naoki looks up at the clock and then as Boom takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Naoki smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Boom wants to control but Naoki postures up.
Boom is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Naoki is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Naoki throws an elbow but Boom slips to the side and avoids it well.

Naoki has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Still in half guard, Naoki seems content to control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, if Naoki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Boom lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Boom misses with a looping left.
Naoki walks into a left hand.
Boom throws the left hand but Naoki avoids the punch easily.
Boom throws a hook but Naoki avoids it easily.
Boom throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Naoki tries to counter with a takedown but Boom is quick to defend against it.
Naoki scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Naoki walks into a left hand.
Boom misses with an uppercut. Naoki saw that one coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Takeshi Naoki will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Takeshi Naoki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boom takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Boom throws a right and a left that both miss.
Naoki throws out a loose jab but Boom uses good head movement to avoid it.
Naoki ducks under a wild hook from Boom.
Boom might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Boom is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Naoki content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Naoki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Boom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Naoki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boom has momentary wrist control but Naoki slips an elbow through the middle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Naoki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Naoki slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Naoki drops an elbow to the side of Boom's head.
Boom felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Naoki is taking a breather. Boom says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Naoki is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boom can do to turn this around?
Naoki thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Naoki in particular looking to stall.
Naoki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Boom wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Naoki is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Boom's shoulder. That is not cool.

Naoki remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Naoki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
