PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abed Nadir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Pintos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nadir's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, M.A.S.H Theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Abed Nadir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, El Pintos!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pintos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nadir.
Nadir lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pintos circles away quickly and effectively.
Nadir tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pintos defends well and Nadir ends up having to push Pintos into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Nadir fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pintos keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nadir.
Some bone on bone action there as Pintos checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Nadir tries for a takedown but Pintos circles away easily
and Pintos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abed Nadir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pintos swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nadir.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pintos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nadir.
We've been informed that Pintos has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Nadir drives through and clinches with Pintos against the cage.

Nadir has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pintos avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nadir tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pintos avoids it.
Nadir is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Nadir has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pintos regains guard immediately.

Nadir drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pintos looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pintos looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pintos!

Nadir tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pintos wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Pintos wants to stand but Nadir has his arm trapped.
Nadir tries to buck Pintos off but Pintos is having none of it.

Pintos just content to control the position.
Nadir can't do much from the bottom here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Pintos stands up and beckons Nadir to his feet.
Abed Nadir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nadir moves into range and connects with a jab.
Nadir tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Pintos counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Abed Nadir has been cut.
Pintos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nadir finds it's way round the side to connect with Pintos's head.
A telegraphed right hand from Pintos misses the target.
Pintos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nadir scores with a kick to the midsection.
Nadir throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Pintos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nadir misses with a two punch combination.
Pintos pivots, looking for a leg kick but Nadir is out of range and Pintos settles back down.
Nadir throws a leg kick which misses Pintos's front leg but catches the back leg as Pintos tries to avoid it.
Pintos lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Nadir has managed to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Abed Nadir will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Pintos connects with a leg kick. Nadir looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

and Pintos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pintos has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Nadir.
Nadir tries to clinch but Pintos moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Pintos on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Pintos steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nadir.

Nadir tries for a takedown but Pintos sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

An inside leg kick lands from Nadir.
Nadir throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nadir throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Pintos throws a jab when Nadir was well out of range.
Nadir looks to score with a jab to the body but Pintos is just out of range.
El Pintos seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Nadir uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pintos.
El Pintos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pintos cracks Nadir with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nadir throws out a loose jab but Pintos uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nadir throws a right and a left that Pintos avoids nicely.

Nadir will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Oh Nadir is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pintos lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Nadir throws a sloppy head kick
and Pintos rattles Nadir with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Nadir tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Pintos dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Nadir stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). El Pintos!
After winning the bout, El Pintos thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
