PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rich Solomon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rich Solomon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Solomon half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Solomon throws a head punch that misses.

Mitchell jumps into guard, dragging Solomon to the mat.
Solomon lands a couple of digs.
Mitchell is trying to control the position but Solomon postures up.
Solomon is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Solomon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Solomon gets caught napping as Mitchell dives in and scores a takedown. Solomon manages to retain guard.
Solomon is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mitchell dives into side control.

Mitchell has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Mitchell feints and as Solomon raises his hands in defense, Mitchell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mitchell wants to control from the top but Solomon keeps moving.

Mitchell passes Solomon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Solomon moves into full guard.
Mitchell postures up.
Mitchell engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Solomon is trying to keep Mitchell in close.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Solomon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mitchell manages to get himself to full guard.

Solomon postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Solomon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mitchell doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Mitchell pushes a forearm under Solomon's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Solomon is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
