PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Tannock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iain Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Stephen Tannock has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Stephen Tannock seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stephen Tannock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Iain Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tannock rushes Jenkins and presses him up against the cage.
Jenkins trying to stall but Tannock improves his position.
Tannock wants to get back to striking at distance but Jenkins won't allow it.
Tannock is trying to pull guard but Jenkins has him pressed against the cage.
Tannock drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jenkins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tannock has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jenkins goes for a takedown attempt but Tannock pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jenkins fails with a takedown attempt.
Tannock throws a quick counter kick to the body but Jenkins avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tannock.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephen Tannock. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tannock closes the distance and pushes Jenkins back into the cage.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jenkins.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jenkins wants to sweep here but Tannock controlling him for the moment.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tannock throws a chopping leg kick but Jenkins manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Jenkins shoots in for a takedown but Tannock shows good takedown defense.
Jenkins darts in looking for a takedown but Tannock gets double underhooks and turns Jenkins into the cage.

Jenkins tries to sprawl but Tannock drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Tannock is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jenkins!

Tannock takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Tannock is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Jenkins wants to get back to his feet.
Jenkins trying to control the hands but Tannock breaks the grip.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tannock looking for the choke but no joy.

Jenkins with a lazy takedown attempt
and Jenkins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Iain Jenkins has been cut.

Tannock shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jenkins manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Tannock keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Jenkins jumps guard but Tannock turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Tannock is trying to break the clinch but Jenkins has him pressed against the cage.

Jenkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tannock takes the fight into the clinch.
Jenkins tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jenkins is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Tannock tries to score a body lock takedown but Jenkins shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Tannock manages to break the clinch.
Jenkins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tannock's waist but Tannock gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jenkins off to one side.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tannock is on top in guard.

Jenkins has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Tannock has passed into side control.

Tannock misses with the ground and pound.
Tannock in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Jenkins can't do much from the bottom here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jenkins is trying to escape the position but Tannock is controlling the position.

The cut man is working on Iain Jenkins's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Jenkins tries to close the distance and clinch but Tannock swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jenkins clinches up with Tannock and pushes him back against the cage.
Jenkins tries for a takedown but Tannock manages to get underhooks.
Jenkins with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Tannock decides to pull guard.
Tannock has Jenkins pulled in close to control his posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jenkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Tannock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tannock wants to get back to full guard.

Tannock keeping moving, preventing Jenkins from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jenkins tries to land a body kick

and Tannock counters by clinching up.

Jenkins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tannock tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jenkins swivels and escapes.
Tannock closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jenkins circles away.
Tannock stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tannock wants it to stay on the feet.

Jenkins takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Jenkins throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jenkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jenkins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tannock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jenkins somewhat.
Tannock feinted with a counter takedown.
Stephen Tannock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Iain Jenkins.
Tannock shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jenkins as he jumps to the side.

Jenkins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tannock quickly recovers to half guard.

Tannock manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jenkins keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Tannock is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jenkins can do to turn this around?
