Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eliah Marshal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marshal has chosen "Straight Outta Compton" by NWA as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Bruce Armstrong!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eliah Marshal!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marshal has closed the distance and engaged Armstrong in a clinch.
Marshal unloads a knee to the mid-section. Armstrong lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Armstrong ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Armstrong no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Armstrong is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Armstrong tries to buck Marshal off but Marshal is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Armstrong is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Marshal has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Marshal connects with a nice looking jab.
We've been informed that Marshal has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Armstrong looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marshal is fending him off so far but Armstrong persists. Nope, Marshal circles away and we're back to standing.

Eliah Marshal is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Armstrong ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Armstrong tries to counter by clinching up but Marshal breaks away and moves out of range.
Armstrong has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Armstrong there as he acknowledges the shot.
A slapping leg kick lands for Marshal.
Armstrong takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Armstrong shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marshal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Armstrong thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marshal's head.

Armstrong content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marshal keeping moving, preventing Armstrong from controlling successfully.

Armstrong postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marshal is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Armstrong, into his guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Armstrong is on top in guard.

Marshal connects with a leg kick. Armstrong looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Armstrong drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Armstrong goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Marshal has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Armstrong but great work by Marshal.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Armstrong isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Marshal stacks Armstrong on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Marshal!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Armstrong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Armstrong wants to clinch up but Marshal keeps it at a distance.
Armstrong shoots in but Marshal avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Marshal jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Armstrong jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marshal walks away with a smile on his face. Armstrong gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Armstrong. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Armstrong shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That was a close round but Bruce Armstrong did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Armstrong takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Armstrong tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marshal swivels and escapes.

No luck for Armstrong with that takedown attempt.

Armstrong on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Armstrong tries to pull guard but Marshal holds him up against the cage and eventually Armstrong drops back down to his feet.

Marshal lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Marshal throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Oh Armstrong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Marshal slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Armstrong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marshal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marshal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Armstrong looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Marshal has picked Armstrong up and slammed him! Armstrong can't keep hold of the triangle and Marshal manages to pass to side control!
Bruce Armstrong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marshal decides to stand up, so the ref orders Armstrong to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Armstrong dives in and grabs Marshal's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marshal pushes down on Armstrong's head and hops out.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Marshal lands with a hook. Armstrong tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Armstrong shoots in looking for a takedown but Marshal manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Armstrong's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Armstrong is defended easily by Marshal.
A little jabbing left from Marshal on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Marshal throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Armstrong stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Marshal thuds his right hand into Armstrong's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Marshal tries to clinch but Armstrong is having none of it.
Armstrong tries to counter by clinching up but Marshal breaks away and moves out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Marshal darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Marshal is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eliah Marshal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Marshal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
