Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Owen Whipple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalisto Omega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Owen Whipple has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Owen Whipple!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kalisto Omega!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omega swings for the body but Whipple moves out of range.

Whipple decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Omega wants to control but Whipple is keeping busy.
Whipple content to control rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Omega felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Omega is bucking up trying to escape but Whipple cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Omega shoots in for a takedown but Whipple shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

It appears Whipple was looking to counter with a kick there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Omega goes for a double leg but Whipple avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Whipple continues to drive forward.
Whipple seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

That was a close second round but I would say that Owen Whipple will probably get the nod.

Whipple lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Whipple has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Omega can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Omega must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Omega got a little sloppy there for a moment and Whipple has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Omega has managed to get both his arms back between Whipple's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Owen Whipple.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Whipple, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
