PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adel Chalhoub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tigerjr Choko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tigerjr Choko told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adel Chalhoub!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tigerjr Choko!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choko fails with the takedown
and Chalhoub counters with a left and a right that stings Choko.

Chalhoub drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Tokyo inform us that Choko has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Chalhoub is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Chalhoub is stalling in the full guard.
Choko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chalhoub sitting in guard here, content to control.

Chalhoub passes easily into side control. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Choko's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Choko is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Chalhoub has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chalhoub works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Choko tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chalhoub wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chalhoub is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Choko will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Choko is working to avoid the ground and pound but Chalhoub connects with a decent elbow.
Choko tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Chalhoub is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Chalhoub closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Choko did well to prevent Chalhoub getting side control.

Choko is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Chalhoub scores with a couple of nice shots.
Well, if Chalhoub is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Choko tries to clinch but Chalhoub moves out of range.

Chalhoub is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Choko's half guard.
Chalhoub is taking a breather. Choko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Chalhoub seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Choko for as long as he can get away with.
Choko is looking to control Chalhoub's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Choko avoid being mounted?

Chalhoub has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Chalhoub connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Choko working to try and regain half guard.

Chalhoub is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Choko can do to turn this around?
Choko really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Chalhoub wants to take Choko's back but he can't do it this time.

Chalhoub goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Choko turns into him and now he's in Chalhoub's guard.
Chalhoub looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Choko lying in Chalhoub's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Chalhoub decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Choko taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
