PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Heath Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Heath Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Lynch!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lynch closes the distance and pushes Carlson back into the cage.
Lynch tries for a takedown. No joy.

Lynch jumps guard.
Carlson being controlled here momentarily.
Lynch avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Carlson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Carlson throwing strikes but missing.
Lynch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Carlson cracks Lynch with a solid left hand.
Lynch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lynch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Carlson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lynch will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carlson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carlson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lynch has his foot on Carlson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carlson works his way back into a safe position though.
Lynch has Carlson pulled in close to control his posture.
Carlson pushes down on Lynch's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Lynch is looking to improve his position.

Carlson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lynch sees it coming and defends easily.

Carlson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Carlson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lynch is doing well to control the position and prevent Carlson from advancing to side control.

Carlson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lynch has managed to free his arm - good work.
Carlson wants to pass to mount but Lynch is defending the position.
Lynch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lynch wants to get back to his feet.

Carlson wants to stall.
Carlson is trying to force a seperation but Lynch has the dominant position.
Carlson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lynch will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Carlson up against the cage.
Carlson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carlson jumps guard but Lynch turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Lynch dives in for a single leg takedown but Carlson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Carlson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carlson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

As Lynch tries to get set, Carlson tries to push him back and clinch up but Lynch manages to avoid the attempt.
