Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Hovac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trey Rines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trey Rines looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Hovac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trey Rines!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hovac fails with a takedown attempt.
Rines looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rines slaps away a takedown attempt from Hovac, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rines lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Hovac throws a solid leg kick but Rines takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hovac.
Hovac goes for a double leg but Rines avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rines continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Hovac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hovac stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hovac wants it to stay on the feet.
Hovac throws a push kick but Rines slaps the foot to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hovac is trying to drag Rines to the mat but Rines just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hovac breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rines jumps guard but Hovac turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Hovac is trying to drag Rines to the mat but Rines just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Come on Hovac - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Hovac's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fight stays on the outside here - Rines looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hovac forces Rines back against the cage and clinches.
Rines is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hovac pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hovac manages to break the clinch.
Hovac fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rines avoids it really well and circles away.
A countering left hand to the body from Rines misses.

Rines closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hovac circles away.
No luck for Hovac with that takedown attempt.

Hovac has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rines misses with a body punch.
A short right from Hovac.
We've been informed that Rines has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Hovac ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hovac no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hovac has his foot on Rines's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rines works his way back into a safe position though.

Hovac is trying to keep Rines in close.
Rines looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rines postures up.
Hovac will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hovac is looking for a triangle here but Rines uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Rines tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hovac's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Rines enables Hovac to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rines manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hovac throws a big right hand that misses.
Rines wants to stand and escape but Hovac is having none of it.
Hovac tries to stand but Rines is controlling from the bottom.
Hovac in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rines is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rines avoiding damage as Hovac throws knees to the body.
Hovac drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rines pulls his leg out and moves away.
Samuel Hovac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hovac changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rines tries to avoid it but Hovac manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rines to the ground. Rines escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rines swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Rines throws out a counter right but Hovac avoids it with no problem.
Hovac throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rines stuffs the takedown attempt from Hovac. Hovac gets slowly back to his feet.

Hovac fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rines looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Rines shoots in and gets a takedown into Hovac's guard.
Hovac knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rines on the ground.

Rines wanted to stand there but Hovac had control of the position.
Rines won't allow Hovac to sweep him here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hovac is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rines can do to turn this around?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rines tries to break the clinch but Hovac is controlling the position.
Hovac lands with a short shot to the head.
Hovac avoiding damage as Rines throws knees to the body.
Rines is pressed up against the cage. Hovac has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rines down to the mat. Rines avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hovac has managed to clinch.
Rines jumps guard but Hovac stands there with Rines around his waist. Rines gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Rines throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Hovac jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rines walks away with a smile on his face. Hovac gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hovac looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Samuel Hovac is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rines doesn't manage to clinch there - Hovac circles away.
Rines tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Rines stuffs the takedown attempt from Hovac. Hovac gets slowly back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hovac.
Hovac shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rines sprawls well. Rines wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hovac gets slowly back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rines tries to clinch up but Hovac circles away and keeps his distance.

Rines on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Trey Rines seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hovac uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rines.

Rines wants to counter with a clinch but Hovac pushes him away.

Rines tries to close the distance and clinch but Hovac swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Trey Rines has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Samuel Hovac is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rines misses with a looping right.
Hovac appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Trey Rines.
I think Hovac has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
