Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michel Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michel Calderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jamie Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Calderon.

Thomas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Calderon!

Calderon throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Thomas gets the takedown into side control.

Thomas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Calderon, who protects the arm well.
Thomas wants to control but Calderon is keeping him busy.

Thomas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thomas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Calderon is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Thomas is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Thomas trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Calderon wants to control but Thomas is having none of it.
Thomas looking to ground and pound but Calderon is blocking nicely.
Calderon is trying to escape the mount.
Calderon is working hard here to advance position.

Calderon is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Thomas has control of Calderon's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Calderon regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Calderon is wriggling around trying to escape.
Calderon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Thomas jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Calderon manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Thomas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thomas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thomas decides to stand up, so the ref orders Calderon to his feet.

Thomas forces Calderon back against the cage and clinches.
Thomas wants to break the clinch but can't.
Calderon softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Calderon really is a fat lump.

Thomas has Calderon pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Thomas pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Calderon tumbling to the mat - Thomas dives into Calderon's guard.

Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Calderon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Calderon's legs - danger averted.

Calderon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Thomas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Calderon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Calderon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Calderon has closed the distance and engaged Thomas in a clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jamie Thomas will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Thomas misses with a two punch combination.
Calderon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Calderon misses with a takedown
and Thomas counters with a one-two to the body.

Thomas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Thomas remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Thomas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jamie Thomas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Thomas tries to advance position but instead Calderon slips a leg back in to half guard.
Calderon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Still in half guard, Thomas seems content to control.
Thomas has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Thomas throwing shots but Calderon is blocking nicely.
Calderon tries to get to full guard but Thomas has control of the leg.
Thomas moves nicely into side control.
Calderon stops Thomas from passing to mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Calderon is trying to improve his position.
Calderon tries to control but Thomas manages to take his back.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Thomas working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Thomas patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Calderon tries to escape but Thomas has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Thomas tries to get the hooks in deep but Calderon pushed the leg off.
Thomas avoiding Calderon 's attempts to control his hands.

Thomas looking to break Calderon's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Calderon remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Thomas will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Thomas has the hooks in. Calderon is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Thomas avoiding Calderon 's attempts to control his hands.
Thomas is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jamie Thomas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Calderon has his foot on Thomas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thomas works his way back into a safe position though.
Thomas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calderon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thomas's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Calderon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Calderon is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Calderon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thomas defends it easily.

Thomas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Calderon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Thomas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thomas is looking to take a break and control but Calderon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thomas stands up.
Calderon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thomas but Thomas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michel Calderon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Calderon gets caught flat footed, as Thomas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Calderon is looking to stand back up but Thomas counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Calderon.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Thomas is keen to just control but Calderon is a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jamie Thomas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Thomas winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
