Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Abrams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pari Jakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Abrams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pari Jakh!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abrams lands a nice shot to the body.

Jakh moves into range and clinches up with Abrams.
Abrams really is a fat lump.
Abrams jumps guard but Jakh turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Jakh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Abrams smiles and moves away.
Jakh tries for a takedown but Abrams circles away easily
and Abrams counters with a three punch combo that has Jakh backing up. Jakh nods at Abrams to acknowledge the strikes.
Jakh misses with a wild combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Abrams. Jakh does a little dance to reset his feet.
Abrams looks for the body kick but Jakh saw that one coming.
Jakh has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Abrams finds it's way round the side to connect with Jakh's head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jakh or perhaps it was just good defense by Abrams, which made it look bad.
David Abrams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pari Jakh.

Abrams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jakh is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Abrams gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Jakh is looking to control Abrams's arms but Abrams gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jakh has his back to the cage.
Jakh goes for a takedown attempt but Abrams pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Jakh has Abrams pressed against the cage, preventing Abrams from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Abrams lands a shoulder strike.

Abrams jumps into guard, dragging Jakh to the mat.
Abrams has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Abrams has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jakh off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Abrams lands with a straight right. Jakh didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Pari Jakh has been cut.
Jakh walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Abrams closes the distance and pushes Jakh back into the cage.
Jakh fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jakh looks winded!
Abrams wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jakh keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Abrams's efforts to push away.
Still in the clinch, Abrams scores with a nice short uppercut.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Abrams's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
David Abrams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abrams misses with a few strikes there.
Abrams fails to land with a series of punches.

Abrams has closed the distance and engaged Jakh in a clinch.

Abrams is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jakh to keep the fight standing.

Jakh keeps control of Abrams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Abrams is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Abrams throws out a loose jab but Jakh uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


No joy there for Jakh, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Abrams wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Abrams shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Abrams counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Abrams.
Abrams looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Jakh tries a knee to the head but Abrams blocks it.
Abrams digs a right hand into Jakh's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jakh's gas tank.

Abrams successfully pulls guard.
Jakh wants to control from the top but Abrams keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Abrams holds on and takes a little breather.

Jakh has gone for a leg lock! Abrams slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jakh's guard.

Jakh tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jakh is breathing heavily.
Jakh not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Abrams postures up in Jakh's guard and throws a big left but Jakh blocks it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jakh utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Abrams loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jakh drops back, looking for a kneebar! Abrams looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Abrams looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Abrams!

David Abrams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Abrams creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jakh sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Jakh is trying to control Abrams's posture but Abrams avoids it.
Abrams controls the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Abrams throws an elbow but Jakh slips to the side and avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Jakh rushes Abrams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Abrams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Abrams throws a head kick that misses.
Jakh swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Abrams takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
No luck for Abrams with that takedown attempt.

Jakh has Abrams up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jakh wants to stall.
Jakh tries to pull guard but Abrams forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Abrams has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Jakh is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Jakh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jakh throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jakh is looking to control Abrams's arms but Abrams gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jakh has his back to the cage.

Abrams is pressed up against the cage. Jakh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Abrams down to the mat. Abrams avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Abrams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jakh circles away quickly and effectively.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Abrams throws a shot from downtown. Jakh moves away and avoids it.
Jakh changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Abrams has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jakh is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to David Abrams.
Well Abrams has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
