PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joyo Kumlakar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joyo Kumlakar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Bean!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bean stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bean wants it to stay on the feet.
Bean swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Kumlakar doesn't manage to clinch there - Bean circles away.
Kumlakar tries for a takedown but Bean sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kumlakar tries to clinch but Bean is having none of it.
Bean moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Kumlakar has his takedown stuffed
and Kumlakar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

A punch lands to the side of Kumlakar 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Kumlakar shoots in but Bean avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Bean is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kumlakar can't fight it off and eventually Bean manages to take the fight to the floor. Kumlakar looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kumlakar wants to improve his position but Bean is controlling well.

Bean decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Kumlakar shoots in looking for a takedown. Bean tries to sprawl out of it but Kumlakar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bean manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bean throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Bean throws out a powerful jab.
Bean fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kumlakar has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bean holds on and takes a little breather.

Bean pushes Kumlakar off and scrambles back to his feet.
Bean defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kumlakar.

Bean shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bean content to control rather than advance.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bean connects with a nice short shot to Kumlakar's temple.

Kumlakar is looking for a sweep.
Bean has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Bean pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Kumlakar is trying desperately to improve position.

James Bean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Joyo Kumlakar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bean looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kumlakar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bean is taking a breather. Kumlakar says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Joyo Kumlakar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kumlakar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kumlakar is defended easily by Bean.

Bean pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kumlakar is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Kumlakar dives in and grabs Bean's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bean pushes down on Kumlakar's head and hops out.

James Bean is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

James Bean comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bean has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
