Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Modus Ponens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taj Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ponens.

Ponens tries to counter by clinching up but Daniels breaks away and moves out of range.

and Daniels cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

We've been told by Ponens's head coaches at English Top Team - THE Hybrid Gym (11 ELITE ) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Ponens fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Some wild striking there from Daniels.
Ponens bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Daniels steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ponens. That one must have hurt.
No luck for Ponens with that takedown attempt.
Daniels unleashes a big counter combination but Ponens bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Taj Daniels is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ponens throws out a powerful jab.
Daniels connects with a right hand. Ponens shakes it off.
Daniels throws a body shot but no joy.

and Ponens counters by clinching up.

Ponens turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ponens manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ponens in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Daniels looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Ponens turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
