Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jefferey Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor Skrald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jefferey Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conor Skrald!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Skrald to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Skrald content to stall in guard here.
Skrald passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skrald is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smith defends it well.

Skrald is looking for submissions but instead, Smith has regained full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith wants to control the position but Skrald says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Skrald is looking for a kimura but Smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Skrald to get the leverage.
Skrald uses his free foot to push down on Smith's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Smith.
Skrald throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Smith because Skrald loaded up on that one.
Skrald thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Skrald goes for an armbar but Smith turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Smith.
Skrald is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Skrald seems keen to control Smith's posture.
Skrald keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.

Skrald pushes Smith off and gets back to his feet.

Skrald feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Skrald changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Skrald looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Skrald pulls Smith in close to prevent any damage.
Smith pushing down on Skrald's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Smith takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Smith seems to be working for a kimura but Skrald defends the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conor Skrald dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Skrald shoots in and gets a takedown into Smith's guard.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Skrald not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Skrald stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Skrald shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smith napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Skrald is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Skrald looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Smith is avoiding damage well.
Smith regains half guard there - taking advantage of Skrald's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Skrald throws a strike but Smith avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Skrald from controlling successfully.
Skrald controls from within his opponent's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Skrald's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Skrald throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Skrald's guard. Nice move by Smith!


Smith stands and steps away. Skrald gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Skrald showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smith.

Nice uppercut lands for Skrald. That snapped Smith's head back.
Skrald doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.

Skrald looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Skrald is looking to stall here but Smith recovers full guard.
Smith thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Skrald from controlling successfully.

Skrald passes Smith's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Skrald is pressing down on Smith's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smith is holding on for now.

Skrald is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Smith to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Skrald tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Conor Skrald will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Smith throws a jab when Skrald was well out of range.
Skrald leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And Skrald tries to counter it with a takedown but Smith pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Skrald shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smith is trying to defend but Skrald finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Smith kicks off Skrald and gets to his feet.

Smith gets caught napping as Skrald dives in and scores a takedown. Smith manages to retain guard.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Skrald takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Skrald is refusing to be controlled, as Smith sits in half guard.

Jefferey Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jefferey Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Conor Skrald is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
