Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 22 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Artem Korotkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 27 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pablo Pablos!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pablos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pablos showed some decent athleticism there.
Pablos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Korotkov is trying to get back to full guard.
Pablos is controlling the pace.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Korotkov is not content to let Pablos control the position.
Korotkov's coaches at have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pablos seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Pablos frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Korotkov really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Korotkov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pablos swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Korotkov is now in Pablos's guard. A big mistake from Pablos there, giving up the dominant position!
Korotkov is looking to work some ground and pound but Pablos has wrist control.
Korotkov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Pablos has control of Korotkov's left arm, preventing Korotkov from doing any damage.
Korotkov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pablos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Korotkov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Korotkov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pablos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Korotkov is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pablos is on top in guard.
Pablos looking to improve position, pressing down on Korotkov's thigh with his hand. Korotkov seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Pablos paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Pablos's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Korotkov picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
