Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alfonso Grabonzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fullmetal Spike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fullmetal Spike has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Alfonso Grabonzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fullmetal Spike!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grabonzo shoots for a double leg takedown but Spike sprawls well. He's pushed Grabonzo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Grabonzo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Spike paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Good leg kick by Spike there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Grabonzo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Spike pinned against the ropes. Spike gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Spike is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Grabonzo with a body shot.
Spike fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Grabonzo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Spike defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfonso Grabonzo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grabonzo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spike's waist but Spike gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grabonzo off to one side.
Spike tries to bum rush Grabonzo with a series of wild strikes but Grabonzo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Spike lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grabonzo is defended easily by Spike.
Spike looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Grabonzo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Spike avoids it really well and circles away.
Grabonzo is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spike connects with a good right hand that stumbles Grabonzo. Grabonzo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Alfonso Grabonzo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spike will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A nice inside leg kick there by Spike. That's going to slow Grabonzo down.
Grabonzo dives in and grabs Spike's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spike pushes down on Grabonzo's head and hops out.
Grabonzo fails with a takedown attempt.
Spike's coach down at Bonsai Club MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Spike's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Spike sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grabonzo's guard.

Grabonzo actively working from the bottom here.
Spike slows the pace down in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Spike has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Spike prevents Grabonzo from improving his position.

Grabonzo looking for submissions off his back.
Spike wants to control but Grabonzo is keeping him busy.
Spike is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Spike wants to free his trapped foot but Grabonzo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Grabonzo actively working from the bottom here.
Well, if Spike is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Grabonzo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Grabonzo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Spike looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Spike trying to control but Grabonzo is working from the bottom.
Grabonzo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Spike wants to control from the top but Grabonzo keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Grabonzo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Spike controls the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Grabonzo has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Spike doesn't defend quickly enough and Grabonzo has managed to lock this one up! Can Spike escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Grabonzo on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Alfonso Grabonzo!
