Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Iosefa Umaga!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Umaga looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McDermott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Umaga defends it nicely.
Umaga is looking to clinch but McDermott is avoiding it.
Umaga doesn't manage to clinch there - McDermott circles away.

McDermott rushes Umaga and presses him up against the cage.
McDermott avoids the elbow strike from Umaga, against the cage.
McDermott goes for a takedown in the clinch but Umaga prevents it.
Umaga tries a body shot but McDermott blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McDermott pulls guard effortlessly.
McDermott is pulling down on Umaga's head. It's preventing any offense from Umaga, at least for the moment.

McDermott is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

McDermott lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
McDermott seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McDermott lands a nice short elbow.

Umaga gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McDermott in particular looking to stall.
McDermott tries to pass the half guard into mount. Umaga knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McDermott throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

McDermott stands up from half guard.
Iosefa Umaga is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Umaga tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Iosefa Umaga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDermott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McDermott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Umaga sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McDermott somewhat.

Umaga can't keep his opponent in guard - McDermott advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Umaga really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDermott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McDermott is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Umaga is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
