Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tanishi Toshiyuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kacper Drygajlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanishi Toshiyuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kacper Drygajlo!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drygajlo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Danga de danga de dang - Toshiyuki scores with a four punch combination!
Toshiyuki fails to land with a series of punches.

Drygajlo darts in and clinches Toshiyuki up against the ropes.
The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows.
Toshiyuki throws a punch but it's blocked by Drygajlo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Toshiyuki misses with the head strike.

Toshiyuki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Drygajlo is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Drygajlo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Drygajlo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Toshiyuki tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Drygajlo was well out of range. Poor timing from Toshiyuki.
Toshiyuki scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Toshiyuki needs to keep his hands up - Drygajlo had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Tanishi Toshiyuki has been cut.

Kacper Drygajlo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Toshiyuki bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Drygajlo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Drygajlo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Toshiyuki moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Toshiyuki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Drygajlo.

It looked like Toshiyuki was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Drygajlo.

Drygajlo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Drygajlo's coach down at Cozad MMA Tokyo was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Drygajlo's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Drygajlo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Toshiyuki throws a big counter combination but Drygajlo scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Toshiyuki throws a right hand that Drygajlo ducks under and follows up with a left that Drygajlo also avoids with ease.
Toshiyuki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Toshiyuki darts in and clinches Drygajlo up against the ropes.
Toshiyuki throws a punch but it's blocked by Drygajlo.
Drygajlo is trying to maintain a safe position but Toshiyuki gets an underhook and turns Drygajlo into the ropes.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Toshiyuki.
Drygajlo is pushing Toshiyuki up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Toshiyuki wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Drygajlo has him pressed against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

I was talking to Toshiyuki's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Drygajlo blocks an uppercut.
Drygajlo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Drygajlo jumps guard and drags Toshiyuki to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are working up against the ropes. Drygajlo manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the ropes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Toshiyuki tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Toshiyuki can't find room to land a body shot as Drygajlo controls the action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Toshiyuki lands with an overhand left.
Toshiyuki lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Drygajlo moves in looking to clinch but Toshiyuki pushes him off.

and Toshiyuki counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Drygajlo thinking.
A nice combination there by Toshiyuki.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Drygajlo tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Toshiyuki manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Drygajlo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
It looked like Toshiyuki wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Toshiyuki stalks Drygajlo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Drygajlo's face. Drygajlo staggers backwards, shaken.

Drygajlo has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tanishi Toshiyuki.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Toshiyuki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
