PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Wilkerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sagit Etits (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Forrest Wilkerson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sagit Etits!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Etits misses with a kick to the body.
Etits checks the leg kick nicely there.
Etits throws a head kick that Wilkerson semi-blocks.

Wilkerson has closed the distance and engaged Etits in a clinch.
Wilkerson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Etits is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Etits breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Etits avoids the head kick by Wilkerson.
A nice side step and Etits releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Wilkerson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Etits to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Wilkerson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Etits stacks Wilkerson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Etits!

Wilkerson is trying to improve his position.
Etits postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
You can see the frustration on Wilkerson's face as Etits controls the position.
Wilkerson is looking to regain half guard here but Etits keeps moving and retains side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A lull in the action here.
Wilkerson is looking to reverse the position.
Etits is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Etits tries to move into full mount but can't pass Wilkerson's legs.

Etits decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Etits throws a combination that misses
and Wilkerson counters with a three punch combo that has Etits backing up. Etits nods at Wilkerson to acknowledge the strikes.
A bone on bone clash there as Etits blocks the leg kick.
Etits chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wilkerson can pounce on him.
Wilkerson thumps Etits with a low kick.
Wilkerson throws a head kick that misses
and Etits counters with a two punch combo.
Forrest Wilkerson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Etits is looking to land body kicks.
Wilkerson fires out a quick counter leg kick but Etits just manages to avoid it.
Wilkerson misses with a looping left.
Wilkerson throws a head kick that misses.

Etits fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wilkerson, pushing him back against the cage.

Etits pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Etits changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wilkerson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wilkerson dodges the ground and pound from Etits.

Etits decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Etits moves into the clinch successfully.

Etits manages to break the clinch.
Etits avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Etits is looking for the big counter here.

Etits gets a clinch.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Etits breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick misses from Etits.

Etits clinches up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sagit Etits dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Etits gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Wilkerson is trying to control but can't.
Etits takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Wilkerson looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Etits pushes past his half guard into mount!

Etits wants to finish this one by submission but Wilkerson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Etits.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilkerson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Etits in particular looking to stall.

Etits is looking to take a break and control but Wilkerson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Etits is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Wilkerson tries to roll over but Etits keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wilkerson is defending against the submission attempts here by Etits.
Etits misses with a head shot. Wilkerson uses the momentum to regain guard.
Wilkerson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Etits's guard.

Wilkerson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Etits works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Etits managing to control the position.
Etits is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Etits is looking for a triangle but Wilkerson pushes his legs off easily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Etits lands with a kick to the temple. Wilkerson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wilkerson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Etits misses with a wild combination.
Etits has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wilkerson throws a sloppy head kick and Etits moves out of range easily.

Etits has Wilkerson up against the cage in a clinch.
A knee to the head by Etits.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wilkerson jumps guard but Etits turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Etits manages to break the clinch.
Wilkerson misses with a head kick.
Etits blocks a head kick by Wilkerson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sagit Etits showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Wilkerson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Sagit Etits is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wilkerson lands a glancing blow to the side of Etits's head.

Wilkerson has a hand on Etits's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Etits takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Etits looking to control and managing it successfully.

Etits is continuing to stall.
Wilkerson manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Wilkerson, under a barage of strikes from Etits.
Sagit Etits has got the better of the ground game so far.
Etits is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Etits misses with a head shot. Wilkerson uses the momentum to regain guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Wilkerson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Etits escapes and throws Wilkerson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Etits controls the position.
Etits is looking to take a break and control but Wilkerson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Etits takes a little break here. Wilkerson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Etits goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Wilkerson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Etits's guard! Nice work there by Wilkerson!
Wilkerson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Etits holds on and takes a little breather.

Etits pushes Wilkerson off and scrambles back to his feet.
Etits blocks a head kick by Wilkerson.

and Etits counters with a three punch combo that has Wilkerson backing up. Wilkerson nods at Etits to acknowledge the strikes.
Etits avoids the head kick by Wilkerson.
Wilkerson throws a head kick that misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Etits drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Etits gets to his feet. Wilkerson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Wilkerson throws an overhand right that lands on Etits's shoulder, as Etits tries to avoid the shot.
Wilkerson avoids the head kick by Etits.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Forrest Wilkerson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sagit Etits is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Etits lands a jab to the nose.

Sagit Etits comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Etits has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
