Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Grenier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grenier comes to the cage accompanied by the hammer. Carl Thompson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Grenier.
Thompson tries to clinch up but Grenier circles away and keeps his distance.
Carl Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grenier paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No luck for Thompson with that takedown attempt.
Grenier steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Thompson. That one must have hurt.
Thompson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Thompson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Grenier pinned against the cage. Grenier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Grenier appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grenier scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Grenier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thompson on the ground.

Grenier lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

It looks like Carl Thompson has been cut.

Thompson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Grenier haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Grenier winds up and cracks Thompson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Grenier seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That has opened up Carl Thompson's cut even more.
Grenier looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
