The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Njitap bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Beefcake's head.
Beefcake steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Njitap.
Beefcake has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Beefcake tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Njitap swivels and escapes.

Beefcake rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Njitap moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Brutus Beefcake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Njitap looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
