Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phil Leotardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Filipino Champ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Filipino Champ is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Phil Leotardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, The Filipino Champ!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Champ fails with the takedown.
The Filipino Champ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Leotardo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Champ drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Champ jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Leotardo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Champ on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Champ accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Champ thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Champ stands up over Leotardo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Champ distracts Leotardo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Champ tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Leotardo defends well and Champ ends up having to push Leotardo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

As Champ looks to move away, Leotardo throws a big counter combo but Champ just gets out of the way.

Champ takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Leotardo shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Champ eats them both and turns towards Leotardo to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Leotardo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Leotardo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Champ backs up against the cage.
Champ shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Leotardo pinned against the cage. Leotardo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Leotardo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Champ's head backwards.
Good leg kick by Leotardo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Champ shoots in and drives through. Leotardo sprawls well.

and Leotardo counters with a slapping leg kick.

That kick from Leotardo tenderised Champ's leg. Champ is trying to keep his angry face on.

Leotardo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Champ closes the distance and clinches up with Leotardo, looking for a takedown. Champ pushes Leotardo against the cage but Leotardo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Champ is defended easily by Leotardo.
Champ changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leotardo tries to avoid it but Champ manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leotardo to the ground. Leotardo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Champ closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Champ is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Champ seems to be working for a kimura but Leotardo defends the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Leotardo tries to kick Champ off but Champ keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Champ is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Leotardo has managed to free his arm - good work.
Leotardo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Champ can do to turn this around?
Champ passes to side control.
Champ grinds an elbow into Leotardo's temple.
Champ works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Champ moves into full mount!

That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Leotardo lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Champ shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Leotardo as he jumps to the side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Champ postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Leotardo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Champ, into his guard.

Leotardo stands and steps away. Champ gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
