PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marco Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Polo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, On The Floor. Jones comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dmx Intro kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Polo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Jones!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Polo scores with a takedown into Jones's guard.

Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Polo is aware though and is defending well.

Polo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jones is desperately trying to improve his position but Polo has a good base and remains in mount.
Polo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Polo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Polo slows the pace down in half guard.
Polo seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Polo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Polo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.

Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Polo on that attempt.

Polo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jones's guard.

Polo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.

Polo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Polo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Polo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Polo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jones has worked his arm free - good work by Jones!
Polo takes a little break here. Jones wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Polo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Polo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Polo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
Jones tries to buck Polo off but Polo is having none of it.
Polo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jones throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Jones is pushing Polo's head away, looking to escape. Polo manages to hold on to the position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Polo throws a strike aimed at the side of Jones's head but Jones avoids it well.
Polo wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.

Polo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.
Polo crunches a lovely knee into Jones's ribcage.

Polo manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Polo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Polo manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Polo is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Polo to get the leverage.
Marco Polo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Polo has control of the leg.
Jones gets back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Polo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Polo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marco Polo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Polo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
