Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Palmer Roberson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. One Call Away - Charlie Puth kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo throws a hook but Roberson avoids it easily.
Roberson looks for a takedown but Aldo sprawls well.
Aldo tries a head kick but it misses.
Roberson appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Aldo drives through and clinches with Roberson against the cage.

Aldo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aldo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Aldo fails to land with a series of punches.
Aldo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Roberson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aldo clinches up with Roberson and pushes him back against the cage.

Roberson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Roberson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Aldo enables Roberson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Aldo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Roberson gets to his feet - Aldo follows without any prompting.
Aldo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roberson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aldo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aldo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Aldo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Aldo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Roberson dives on top into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Aldo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Roberson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Aldo for as long as he can get away with.

Palmer Roberson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Roberson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Aldo just misses with a elbow thrown towards Roberson's brow.
