PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shuya Nanahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitry Boitsoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nanahara's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sail. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shuya Nanahara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dmitry Boitsoff!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boitsoff lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nanahara misses with a right hand

and Boitsoff counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Boitsoff is looking to take a break and control but Nanahara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Boitsoff is nestled in close to Nanahara, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Nanahara is trying to maintain the position but Boitsoff is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boitsoff ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nanahara moves away.

Boitsoff fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nanahara, pushing him back against the cage.

Nanahara's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Boitsoff.

Boitsoff closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nanahara quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nanahara looks to land a right hand but Boitsoff moved out of range.
