The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lukyanov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hales is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Lukyanov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hales goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Lukyanov shoots in for a takedown but Hales shows good takedown defense.

Hales is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lukyanov won't allow Hales to get back to his feet.
Hales trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Lukyanov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hales is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lukyanov dives into side control.
Lukyanov prevents Hales from escaping the position.
Hales looking for a sweep but Lukyanov has passed into full mount! Oh no!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lukyanov landing strikes from the mount and Hales is in trouble!

Lukyanov is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hales can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lukyanov trying to control but Hales is having none of it.
Hales tries to control Lukyanov's body but Lukyanov pushes him off. Hales squirms to his side and now Lukyanov has his back!
Hales is trying to get back to his feet but Lukyanov has full control of the position and if anything, Hales has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Lukyanov has the hooks in. Hales is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Hales is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

Lukyanov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Hales tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lukyanov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
