PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nucky DIaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Bunnyhubby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nucky DIaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Bunnyhubby!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DIaz forces Bunnyhubby back against the cage and clinches.
DIaz takes a knee right on the jaw!
Bunnyhubby wants to break free but DIaz has control.
Bunnyhubby is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

DIaz is trying to trip Bunnyhubby. He has hold of a leg but Bunnyhubby is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. DIaz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

DIaz has gone for a leg lock! Bunnyhubby slips out almost immediately though and dives into DIaz's guard.

DIaz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DIaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DIaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bunnyhubby is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
DIaz is working hard here to advance position.
DIaz controlling Bunnyhubby's posture.
Bunnyhubby is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.
DIaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

DIaz prevents Bunnyhubby from standing back up.

DIaz wants to work for an arm triangle but Bunnyhubby is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DIaz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bunnyhubby wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

DIaz takes the fight into the clinch.
Bunnyhubby is trying to break free.
DIaz keeps control of Bunnyhubby as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Bunnyhubby breaks the clinch.
DIaz misses with a leg kick
and Bunnyhubby counters with a nice leg kick.

Bunnyhubby has taken the fight to the clinch.
DIaz keeps control of Bunnyhubby as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Bunnyhubby wants to get back to striking at distance but DIaz won't allow it.
Bunnyhubby tries to break the clinch but DIaz is controlling the position.
Bunnyhubby wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but DIaz has him pressed against the cage.
DIaz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bunnyhubby prevents it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

DIaz gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bunnyhubby regains guard.
Bunnyhubby wants to stand but DIaz is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nucky DIaz will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Bunnyhubby fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with DIaz, pushing him back against the cage.
Bunnyhubby has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Bunnyhubby is trying to break the clinch but DIaz has him pressed against the cage.
Bunnyhubby wants to get back to striking at distance but DIaz won't allow it.

Bunnyhubby is trying to force a seperation but DIaz has the dominant position.
DIaz drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bunnyhubby pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Bunnyhubby makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Bunnyhubby forces DIaz back against the cage and clinches.
Bunnyhubby wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bunnyhubby putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has DIaz in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

DIaz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
DIaz is standing up over Bunnyhubby. Bunnyhubby looks to escape but DIaz dives into side control.

Bunnyhubby prevents DIaz from improving position.
DIaz controlling from side mount.
Bunnyhubby is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but DIaz has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
DIaz taking a breather here.
DIaz throws an elbow but Bunnyhubby slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
DIaz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bunnyhubby is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
DIaz just content to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
DIaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bunnyhubby swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nucky DIaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bunnyhubby takes the fight into the clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Bunnyhubby has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
DIaz has Bunnyhubby pressed against the cage, preventing Bunnyhubby from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

DIaz blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

DIaz tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bunnyhubby wants to stand and escape but instead DIaz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

DIaz throws a strike but Bunnyhubby rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

DIaz tries to strike from the bottom.
DIaz wants to sweep but no luck.
DIaz is pulling down on Bunnyhubby's head. It's preventing any offense from Bunnyhubby, at least for the moment.

DIaz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Aaron Bunnyhubby will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Bunnyhubby has had enough of the clinch but DIaz keeps him there for the moment.
DIaz is trying to drag Bunnyhubby to the mat but Bunnyhubby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

DIaz tightens his grip and picks Bunnyhubby up, before dumping him to the ground. Bunnyhubby manages to land in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DIaz with a flurry of punches that miss.
DIaz prevents Bunnyhubby from getting back to his feet.
DIaz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
DIaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
DIaz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Bunnyhubby. DIaz shrugs it off though.
Crunch! Bunnyhubby slams his shin into DIaz's torso.
Nice takedown defense from Bunnyhubby. No joy for DIaz on that attempt.

DIaz shoots in and bounces Bunnyhubby off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
DIaz looking to pass the guard.
DIaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

DIaz wants to pass the guard but Bunnyhubby is keeping the position.
Nucky DIaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
DIaz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
DIaz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
DIaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bunnyhubby makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. DIaz really felt that one!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nucky DIaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DIaz goes for a double leg but Bunnyhubby avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bunnyhubby continues to drive forward.

DIaz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bunnyhubby can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bunnyhubby is trying to buck DIaz off.

DIaz throwing shots but missing, from side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nucky DIaz.
I think DIaz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
