Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franz Ferdinand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franz Ferdinand is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Desmond Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Franz Ferdinand!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferdinand lands a nice looking body kick.
Lynch blocks a head kick by Ferdinand.
Lynch could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ferdinand chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Ferdinand drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lynch tries to improve position but can't.

Ferdinand swings around for an armbar but Lynch sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ferdinand's guard.

Ferdinand has his foot on Lynch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lynch works his way back into a safe position though.
Ferdinand looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lynch is one step ahead there.
Lynch loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Ferdinand looking for a guillotine here but Lynch defends easily.

Ferdinand working for submissions but it's allowed Lynch to get to half guard.
Lynch wants to stand up but Ferdinand has a hold of him and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lynch is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ferdinand sees it coming and defends easily.
Ferdinand tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Lynch stands up from half guard.
Danga de danga de dang - Ferdinand scores with a four punch combination!

Ferdinand shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ferdinand stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lynch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lynch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lynch pulls Ferdinand in close to prevent any damage.
Lynch continues to stall.
Ferdinand scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ferdinand has gone for a leg lock! Lynch slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ferdinand's guard.

Ferdinand isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lynch stacks Ferdinand on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lynch!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franz Ferdinand dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ferdinand throws a nice looking combination but Lynch bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ferdinand drives through with a takedown into Lynch's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lynch is looking for a triangle but Ferdinand pushes his legs off easily.

Ferdinand postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lynch is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ferdinand, into his guard.

Ferdinand has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lynch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lynch takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Desmond Lynch has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ferdinand throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lynch tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ferdinand is in Lynch's guard.

Ferdinand postures up in Lynch's guard and throws a big left but Lynch blocks it.

Ferdinand drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lynch looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lynch looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lynch!


Lynch stands up and beckons Ferdinand to his feet.
Lynch needs to keep his hands up - Ferdinand had a free shot at his head there.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Ferdinand.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ferdinand, right into the meat.

Ferdinand closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lynch did well to prevent Ferdinand getting side control.
Ferdinand is looking to stall here but Lynch recovers full guard.

Ferdinand throws an elbow that misses. Lynch uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ferdinand's guard. Nice move by Lynch!


Lynch gets to his feet - Ferdinand follows without any prompting.

Lynch gets caught flat footed, as Ferdinand shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ferdinand drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lynch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ferdinand has Lynch in his guard.

Ferdinand is breathing heavily.

Ferdinand is looking for a triangle but Lynch pushes his legs off easily.

Lynch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lynch fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franz Ferdinand showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Desmond Lynch's cut.
That's time! Lynch's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Lynch gets caught napping as Ferdinand dives in and scores a takedown. Lynch manages to retain guard.

Ferdinand drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lynch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ferdinand has Lynch in his guard.

Lynch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lynch wants to work for an arm triangle but Ferdinand is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lynch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ferdinand is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Lynch connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Lynch is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Ferdinand feints and then cracks Lynch's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lynch down.

Ferdinand tries to bum rush Lynch with a series of wild strikes but Lynch uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
As Ferdinand tries to get set, Lynch tries to push him back and clinch up but Ferdinand manages to avoid the attempt.
Desmond Lynch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ferdinand drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ferdinand takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lynch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Lynch is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ferdinand off and has taken his back!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lynch really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ferdinand.

Lynch is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ferdinand defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Franz Ferdinand is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lynch is hanging on to Ferdinand's back as he tries to escape.

Lynch working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Ferdinand is really stuck here.
Desmond Lynch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Desmond Lynch.
I think Ferdinand has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
