Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Grin Ribber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 3, fighting out of London, Ode Jokinen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribber throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jokinen misses with an uppercut.
Jokinen throws a shot to the body.
Jokinen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jokinen throws a jab but it's blocked by Ribber.

Jokinen moves into range and clinches up with Ribber.
Ribber scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Jokinen misses with some punches.

Ribber pulls guard.
Ribber lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ribber postures up and lands a big shot to Jokinen's brow.

Ribber is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jokinen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ribber is fighting to break Jokinen's control of his arms but Jokinen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ribber's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ribber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ribber wants to pass the guard but Jokinen is keeping the position.
Jokinen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jokinen is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ribber is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jokinen defends well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jokinen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jokinen landing with the ground and pound.
Jokinen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jokinen throws a big right hand that misses.
Ribber is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jokinen stays in close to Ribber's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ribber looks for a takedown but Jokinen sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Grin Ribber will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

and Ribber takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Ribber throws a nice looking combination but Jokinen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ribber turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Jokinen looks to score with a jab to the body but Ribber is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jokinen. Ribber does a little dance to reset his feet.

Jokinen connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ribber. Ribber circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Ribber dips to his left and cracks Jokinen with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ribber is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jokinen can do to turn this around?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jokinen is pulling down on Ribber's head to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ribber accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ribber working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ribber works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A big left from Ribber misses.
Jokinen moves forwards but Ribber connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Jokinen misses with an uppercut. Ribber saw that one coming.
Ribber rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jokinen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ribber works the jab nicely.
Ode Jokinen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ribber tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jokinen was well out of range. Poor timing from Ribber.

Ribber throws a jab when Jokinen was well out of range.
It seemed like Jokinen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Ribber throws a hook but Jokinen avoids it easily.
Jokinen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jokinen stuns Ribber with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ribber uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jokinen.
Jokinen throws a shot from downtown. Ribber moves away and avoids it.

Jokinen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Ribber with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jokinen to score with a decent uppercut.
Ribber fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jokinen.

Jokinen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ribber swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As Jokinen backs away, Ribber returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Ribber dives in and scores a takedown into Jokinen's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ribber stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jokinen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ribber wants to control from the top but Jokinen keeps moving.
Jokinen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ribber's guard.

Jokinen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jokinen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grin Ribber dominated that second round.
That's time! Ribber's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Ribber misses with an uppercut. Jokinen saw that one coming.
Ribber attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Ribber ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jokinen moves away.
A telegraphed right hand from Jokinen misses the target.
Jokinen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ribber's head backwards.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jokinen.
Ribber loads up on a big right hand but Jokinen slips the punch.
Ribber moves out of range as Jokinen throws a body kick.
Jokinen throws out a powerful jab.
Ribber takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good leg kick by Ribber there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ribber.
Ribber moves out of range of the body kick.
Ribber checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Ribber just misses with a punch to the body.

Despite the aggression on Jokinen's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

It looked like Ribber wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Jokinen throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ribber.
Ribber fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jokinen manages to avoid it.

Jokinen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ribber lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jokinen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A swing and a miss from Jokinen.
Ribber fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Jokinen throws a poor cross that misses
and Ribber counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Jokinen closes the distance and clinches.
Jokinen swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Jokinen has a couple of punches blocked by Ribber.
Jokinen swings wildly with an uppercut but Ribber uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jokinen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ribber's elbow.

Ribber pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Grin Ribber.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ribber, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Grin Ribber decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
