The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Road throws a sloppy head kick
and Gonzales counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gonzales has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Gonzales punishes Road's body with a nice straight punch.
Gonzales throws out a loose jab but Road uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gonzales misses with a looping left.

Road darts in and clinches Gonzales up against the cage.
Road has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Gonzales has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Road is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gonzales is looking to clinch but Road is avoiding it.

Road swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Gonzales's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Road connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gonzales scrambles back to his feet.

Road lands a big right hand that sends Gonzales crashing to the mat! Road stays standing though and waves Gonzales back to his feet!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gonzales bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Road's head backwards.

Road is pressed up against the cage. Gonzales has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Road down to the mat. Road avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Road lands a brutal head kick. Gonzales looks out on his feet and Road throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
