PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Larry Kushman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Davison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davison has chosen Not Today by Sevendust as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Larry Kushman!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Davison!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davison throws a hook but Kushman blocks it.
Kushman misses the jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Davison, as that shot connected.
Kushman is looking to clinch.
Davison appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Davison drives through with a takedown into Kushman's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kushman controls Davison momentarily but Davison frees himself.
Davison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kushman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Davison scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Davison is fighting to break Kushman's control of his arms but Kushman is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kushman has momentary wrist control but Davison slips an elbow through the middle.

Davison manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kushman manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davison wants to control from the top but Kushman keeps moving.
Davison postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kushman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kushman seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kushman is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Davison.

Davison throws a right hand that Kushman ducks under and follows up with a left that Kushman also avoids with ease.

Kushman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Chris Davison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kushman moves out of range as Davison throws a body kick.
Kushman appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davison ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And Davison responds with a good body kick, but Kushman manages to step out the way in time.
Kushman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Davison will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Davison shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kushman napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Kushman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Davison has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kushman's face.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
