Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Saad Islam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Swisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Swisher will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Saad Islam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Swisher!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Islam darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Swisher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Swisher avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Islam.
Islam is looking to take a break and control but Swisher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Swisher is trying to get back to full guard.
Islam seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Islam is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Swisher is looking to escape.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Swisher moves into full guard.
Islam looking to sit in guard and control but Swisher gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Islam is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Swisher defends well.
Swisher would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Islam working a defensive guard here.

Islam is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Swisher is aware though and is defending well.
Islam manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Swisher manages to get himself to full guard.

Islam trying to control the position from guard on top but Swisher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Swisher is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Swisher escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Islam gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Islam controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Islam is looking to stand up but Swisher won't let him.
Islam controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Swisher trying to control the position.
Islam works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Islam uses his free foot to push down on Swisher's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Swisher.

Islam wants to finish this one by submission but Swisher is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Islam.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saad Islam dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Islam drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Islam controls the position.
Islam has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Swisher takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Islam wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Swisher, who protects the arm well.
Islam tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Islam is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Swisher can do to turn this around?

Swisher tries to improve position but can't.

Islam swings around for an armbar but Swisher sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Islam's guard.

Islam has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Swisher is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Islam.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Swisher is trying to get an arm triangle but Islam is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Islam tries to buck Swisher off but Swisher is having none of it.
Islam is working hard here to advance position.

Swisher tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Swisher has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Islam wants to control but Swisher postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Islam keeps Swisher under control for a moment.
Islam is looking to regain half guard here but Swisher keeps moving and retains side control.
Swisher tries to stand but Islam is controlling his head.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Islam drives through with a takedown into Swisher's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Swisher is trying to hold Islam in close to prevent damage but Islam has managed to pass into half guard.
Islam looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Islam missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Well, if Islam is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Saad Islam will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Swisher closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Islam is not content to let Swisher control the position.
Saad Islam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Islam is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Islam works his way to full guard. Good work.
Swisher takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Islam looking for a triangle here. Swisher is fighting it but it looks tight! Islam pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Swisher is tapping out - this one is all over!
