Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Hovac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricardo Rines!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hovac closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rines circles away.
Rines leaves Hovac with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hovac tries for a takedown but Rines sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Hovac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rines circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hovac shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rines as he jumps to the side.

Hovac closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hovac displaying some good clinch control by pressing Rines up against the cage.

Hovac escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rines.
Hovac bucks up and tries to throw Rines off but instead Rines has got his back!

You can see the frustration on Hovac's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Hovac knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rines on the ground.
Rines gets his hands free as Hovac looks to control.

Hovac is trying to remain composed but Rines is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Rines is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hovac defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Rines is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Hovac tries to escape but Rines has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Rines lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Rines.
Rines is riding his opponent, not letting Hovac buck him off.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Rines.
Rines has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Hovac's body.
Rines's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hovac is looking to clinch but Rines is avoiding it.
Hovac lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Rines tries to clinch but Hovac is having none of it.

Rines is trying to pull guard but Hovac has him pressed against the cage.
Hovac trying to control the position but instead, Rines has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hovac into the cage.

Rines throws a low kick but Hovac avoids it.
Hovac tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rines defends well and Hovac ends up having to push Rines into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Rines is trying to break the clinch but Hovac has him pressed against the cage.
Hovac pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Hovac drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rines gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hovac has Rines pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rines manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Rines prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hovac lands a right hand that snaps the head of Rines backwards.
Rines is looking to control Hovac's arms but Hovac gets an underhook and turns him. Now Rines has his back to the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rines tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rines is trying to pull guard but Hovac has him pressed against the cage.

Hovac breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hovac tries to clinch up but Rines circles away and keeps his distance.
Hovac tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rines swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hovac shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rines pinned against the cage. Rines gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rines lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Rines tries to close the distance and clinch but Hovac swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hovac fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rines is looking to clinch but Hovac is avoiding it.
Hovac lands a slapping body shot.
Hovac moves out of range as Rines throws a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been informed that Rines has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Rines wants a takedown.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Hovac counters with a stiff right hand.

Rines pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hovac moves in looking to clinch but Rines pushes him off.
Rines feints the counter takedown.

Rines scores with a takedown into Hovac's guard.
Rines takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rines sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Rines wants to stand but Hovac has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rines sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hovac's guard.
Hovac tries to get to full guard but Rines has control of the leg.

Hovac manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Rines tries to clinch up but Hovac circles away and keeps his distance.
Hovac tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rines tries to keep at a distance but Hovac has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hovac has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rines avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
