PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Earnest Hebert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor has chosen El Chapo as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hebert closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McGregor to the mat! McGregor manages to get full guard.
McGregor looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Hebert drops back looking for a leg! McGregor is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McGregor manages to kick Hebert off! Hebert jumps back into McGregor's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hebert throws an elbow that misses. McGregor uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hebert's guard. Nice move by McGregor!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Hebert has momentary wrist control but McGregor slips an elbow through the middle.

Hebert keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McGregor's head.

McGregor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close round but I would say that Earnest Hebert will probably get the nod.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hebert takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hebert is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hebert shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McGregor as he avoids it easily.
McGregor stuffs the takedown.
Hebert dives in for a single leg takedown but McGregor sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

McGregor thows a huge punch but Hebert dodges it nicely.

I think McGregor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
