PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Moises Osborn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Moises Osborn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Dirt!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dirt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Osborn was covering up waiting for the punch and Dirt finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Osborn manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Dirt looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Osborn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Osborn trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Dirt's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Osborn wants to stand up but Dirt is controlling him.
Osborn looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dirt postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Osborn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dirt, into his guard.

Dirt lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Dirt controls Osborn momentarily but Osborn frees himself.
Osborn wanted to stand there but Dirt had control of the position.

Dirt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Osborn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dirt is trying to control the position but Osborn postures up.

Dirt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Osborn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Osborn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Osborn tries to stand but Dirt is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dirt has his takedown stuffed
and Dirt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Osborn takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Dirt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Osborn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Osborn counters with a right hand to the body.

Dirt closes the distance and clinches.
Dirt can't get the takedown.

Osborn pulls guard successfully.
Dirt wants to pass the guard but Osborn is keeping the position.
Dirt wants to control from the top but Osborn keeps moving.
Osborn controls Dirt momentarily but Dirt frees himself.
Osborn looking for a sweep. Not yet Osborn, not yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Osborn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dirt's guard.

Dirt is looking to stand up but Osborn isn't so interested in that idea.
Osborn has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dirt is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dirt thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Osborn being controlled here momentarily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dirt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moises Osborn dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Dirt drives through with a takedown into Osborn's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Osborn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dirt is one step ahead there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Dirt working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Dirt wants to control from the top but Osborn keeps moving.
Dirt slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dirt works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Dirt lands a decent elbow from side control.
Osborn taking a bit of punishment here - Dirt scoring with strikes.

Dirt trying to control the position but Osborn is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dirt tries to stand but Osborn is controlling his head.
Osborn tries to improve position but can't.
Osborn is working hard here to advance position.
Dirt cracks Osborn with a big right hand but Osborn just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dirt is looking to take a break and control but Osborn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Osborn is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dirt is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Osborn can't escape the position.
Osborn is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Dirt trying to control but Osborn is having none of it.
Dirt lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Dirt scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Dirt has hold of Osborn's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Osborn manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Osborn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Dirt controlling the position easily from mount.
Dirt lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Dirt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dirt controlling the position easily from mount.
Osborn wants to hold on but Dirt pushes him away.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Dirt. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

A nice elbow there by Dirt.


Osborn is rocked!
Dirt lands a big shot to the head and Osborn winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
