Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Muhammed Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artemios Padovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Muhammed Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Artemios Padovan!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro checks a low kick from Padovan.
Padovan shoots for a takedown but Castro saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Castro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Padovan defends well and Castro ends up having to push Padovan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Padovan throws a low kick but Castro avoids it.
Padovan fails to land the takedown.

Castro closes the distance and clinches.

Castro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Castro rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Padovan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castro drives through with a takedown into guard.
Castro wants to control from the top but Padovan keeps moving.

Padovan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Castro stacks Padovan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Castro!

Castro tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Castro remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Padovan is trying to control Castro's posture but Castro avoids it.
Padovan wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Padovan is trying to get back to half guard.

Castro swings around for an armbar but Padovan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Castro's guard.
Padovan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Padovan is one step ahead there.
Padovan lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Padovan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Castro keeping moving, preventing Padovan from controlling successfully.
Castro can't keep his opponent in guard - Padovan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Castro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Padovan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Castro's head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Castro is looking to escape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A jab from Padovan misses.
Castro tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Padovan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Castro forces Padovan back against the cage and clinches.
Castro is trying to pull guard but Padovan has him pressed against the cage.
Castro prevents a takedown attempt there.
Muhammed Castro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Artemios Padovan.
Padovan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Castro pulls his leg out and moves away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Castro is looking to land body kicks.
Castro shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Padovan defends it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Muhammed Castro will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Padovan tries to break free but Castro pushes him back against the cage.
Castro has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Padovan after a bit of a struggle.

Castro breaks the clinch.
Castro throws a low kick but Padovan moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castro takes the fight into the clinch.

Padovan has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Castro clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Padovan controls the position.

Artemios Padovan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Padovan working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Padovan scores with punches to the body.
Padovan controlling well, preventing Castro from escaping the position.
Castro wants to get back to his feet.
Castro is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Padovan.

Will Padovan go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Padovan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Castro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Padovan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Castro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Castro tries to get out of the position.

A close second round but Artemios Padovan will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Padovan swats away the attempt to clinch by Castro.
Padovan misses with a kick to the body.
Castro avoids the head kick by Padovan.

Padovan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Castro's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Padovan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Castro keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Castro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Padovan defends well and Castro ends up having to push Padovan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Castro. No joy for Padovan on that attempt.
Padovan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Castro keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Padovan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Castro closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Padovan did well to prevent Castro getting side control.

Castro seems to be working for a kimura but Padovan defends the submission attempt.
Castro tries to stand and escape but Padovan is controlling the position.
Well, if Castro is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Castro is keen to just control but Padovan is a slippery customer.

Padovan is looking to escape.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Padovan trying to hold on to Castro's head to control him but Castro postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Castro gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Padovan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Castro drags the fight down to the ground.
Castro wants to get back to his feet but Padovan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Muhammed Castro.
I think Castro has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
