Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gil Handerson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendrix looks to land a combination but Handerson avoids it well.
Handerson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hendrix defends it well.
Handerson avoids the head kick by Hendrix.
Hendrix takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hendrix uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Handerson.

Handerson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hendrix quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hendrix kicks off Handerson and gets to his feet.

Handerson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hendrix tries to roll over but Handerson keeps him under control.
Hendrix is looking to control Handerson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hendrix avoid being mounted?

Handerson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hendrix is just riding it out for now. Handerson eventually gives up the hold.

Hendrix slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Hendrix will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Handerson wants to stand but Hendrix is controlling his posture from full guard.

Handerson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hendrix can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Handerson controls the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hendrix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Handerson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Handerson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Handerson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hendrix sprawls well initially but Handerson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hendrix seems to have got his legs back now.
Hendrix is looking to get to half guard.
Handerson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hendrix to take his back!
Will Handerson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Handerson is hanging on to Hendrix's back as he tries to escape.

Hendrix manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Hendrix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Handerson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Handerson controls from within his opponent's guard.
Let's hope that Handerson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hendrix lands a decent punch to the body there.

Hendrix is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hendrix really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hendrix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Handerson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hendrix is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Handerson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hendrix has his foot on Handerson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Handerson works his way back into a safe position though.

Handerson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hendrix gets tackled into the cage by Handerson. Handerson maintains the clinch.

Handerson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gil Handerson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Handerson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hendrix on the side of the head.
Alvaro Hendrix is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Handerson connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Hendrix covering up! Handerson comes in with a big uppercut and Hendrix goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gil Handerson!
