PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Max Mackey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arron Kruno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Mackey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arron Kruno!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruno swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mackey shoots in but Kruno avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As Mackey backs off Kruno throws a huge counter combo but Mackey manages to avoid it all.
Kruno misses with a hook.
Kruno misses with a wild combination.
Mackey misses with a takedown attempt - Kruno sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mackey has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Mackey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kruno ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mackey moves away.

Mackey instigates a clinch.
Mackey prevents Kruno from breaking the clinch.
Kruno misses with a punch to the body.

Mackey has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kruno uses from the top position.

Kruno is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kruno throws a big shot that misses.
Mackey is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kruno.

Mackey drives through and clinches with Kruno against the cage.
Mackey drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kruno wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kruno looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Mackey keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kruno's efforts to push away.

Mackey turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Mackey shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Kruno counters with a nice body shot.
Mackey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mackey has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kruno finds it's way round the side to connect with Mackey's head.
Kruno dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kruno has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mackey connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Mackey dives in and grabs Kruno's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kruno pushes down on Mackey's head and hops out.

Mackey tries for a takedown but Kruno manages to get underhooks.
Mackey changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kruno fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mackey moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Mackey closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kruno quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kruno is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mackey wants to control from the top but Kruno keeps moving.
Mackey tries to free his leg and advance position but Kruno is retaining full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mackey slips nicely into half guard.

Mackey tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kruno knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kruno keeping hold of Mackey's head, controlling as best he can.

Mackey tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mackey fails to take his opponent's back.
Kruno can't escape the position.
Mackey tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mackey tries to control but Kruno wriggling away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mackey is looking to work his way around to Kruno's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Mackey dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Mackey throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Mackey shoots in and gets a takedown into Kruno's guard.

Kruno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kruno connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mackey momentarily.
Mackey tries to close the distance and clinch but Kruno swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kruno stuffs the takedown attempt from Mackey. Mackey gets slowly back to his feet.
Kruno swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Kruno looks to score with a jab to the body but Mackey is just out of range.

Mackey closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kruno to the mat! Kruno manages to get full guard.
Mackey is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kruno lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mackey backs up against the cage.
Mackey tries for a takedown but Kruno sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Mackey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mackey.
Mackey misses with a two punch combination.
Kruno looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kruno circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kruno has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Mackey closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

And that's the end of the fight!
Arron Kruno comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kruno has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
