PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Big Boy Rick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Peacock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rick throws a jab when Peacock was well out of range.

Peacock shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Peacock was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rick definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Peacock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rick has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Peacock is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rick.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rick has his foot on Peacock's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peacock works his way back into a safe position though.
Peacock told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
