Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Matthew Ryan has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

As Ryan backs off Schmidt throws a huge counter combo but Ryan manages to avoid it all.
Schmidt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

No joy there for Schmidt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ryan looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Schmidt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ryan throws out the jab.

Ryan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Schmidt to the mat! Schmidt manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ryan gets to his feet - Schmidt follows without any prompting.
