PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mason Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolajs Ognjen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gates comes into the arena with Hell Song blaring out of the sound system. Gates is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mason Gates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nikolajs Ognjen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ognjen chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Gates is breathing heavily.
Gates checks a leg kick.
Gates uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ognjen.
A big left from Ognjen misses.
Gates dodges the punch combination from Ognjen.
Gates appears to be looking for a big counter.
Ognjen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ognjen lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gates's sensitive parts.
Ognjen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gates moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ognjen throws a nice outside leg kick.
Ognjen lands a really nice looking cross but Gates seems unphased.
A solid leg kick lands there for Ognjen.
Ognjen scoring well with a low kick there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ognjen.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ognjen clinches up with Gates and pushes him back against the cage.
Gates blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Ognjen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ognjen lunges at Gates with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gates's hand.

Gates is rocked!
Ognjen throws an overhand right that has Gates reeling! Ognjen follows up with more punches and Gates is out cold! This one is all over!

In his post fight interview, Nikolajs Ognjen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
