PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Monte Snyder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chad Dubois looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Monte Snyder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chad Dubois!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snyder clinches with his opponent.
Dubois looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Snyder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dubois is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Snyder manages to pull guard.
Snyder controlling Dubois's posture.
Snyder looking for a sweep. Not yet Snyder, not yet.
Snyder is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snyder could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dubois wants to control from the top but Snyder keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Snyder manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Dubois tries to score a body lock takedown but Snyder shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Dubois has picked Snyder up - he's going for a ride! Dubois dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Snyder manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Dubois keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Snyder misses with a short punch on the inside.

Snyder successfully pulls guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Snyder is on top in guard.

Snyder is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Snyder gets to his feet. Dubois looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Snyder has closed the distance and engaged Dubois in a clinch.

Snyder closes the distance and clinches.

Dubois's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Snyder shoots in looking for a takedown but Dubois manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Snyder's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dubois misses with a takedown attempt - Snyder sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Snyder gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dubois wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Snyder has him pressed against the cage.

Snyder escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chad Dubois seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Snyder gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Snyder manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Snyder is on top in guard.

Dubois is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Snyder drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Snyder jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Snyder slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Snyder stands up over Dubois, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monte Snyder dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dubois has his takedown stuffed

and Snyder counters by moving into the clinch.

Snyder pulls guard effortlessly.
Dubois is fighting to break Snyder's control of his arms but Snyder is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Monte Snyder overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Snyder is adopting a defensive guard.

Dubois stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Snyder swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dubois is breathing heavily.

Snyder is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Dubois presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Snyder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dubois fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Snyder avoids it really well and circles away.
Snyder misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dubois steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Snyder.
Dubois shoots in but no luck this time.
Monte Snyder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Dubois.

Snyder has Dubois up against the cage in a clinch.

Snyder is trying to trip Dubois. He has hold of a leg but Dubois is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Snyder persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
No joy there for Dubois, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Snyder fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dubois, pushing him back against the cage.
Dubois is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Snyder breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Snyder closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dubois did well to prevent Snyder getting side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Snyder decides to stand and escape the position.
Dubois looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Snyder shoots in for a takedown but Dubois shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Snyder closes the distance and pushes Dubois back into the cage.
Snyder throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Duboiss head.
Dubois tries to score a body lock takedown but Snyder shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Snyder has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Dubois regains guard immediately.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snyder controls from within his opponent's guard.

Snyder thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dubois wants to get back to his feet but Snyder is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Snyder is working Dubois over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Snyder gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monte Snyder dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Dubois tries for a takedown but Snyder circles away easily
letting Snyder counter with a right hand.

Snyder jumps into guard, dragging Dubois to the mat.
Snyder has his hands on Dubois's head, controlling the position.
Dubois must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Snyder throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Snyder pulls Dubois in to control the position.
Snyder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dubois takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Snyder fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dubois wants to counter the offense by Snyder and move into the clinch position.
Dubois looks for a takedown but Snyder sprawls well.

Snyder closes the distance and clinches.

Snyder breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Snyder is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dubois's half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Snyder prevents Dubois from standing back up.

Snyder stalling.
Dubois is trying to stand up here but Snyder is controlling him well.

Snyder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Snyder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dubois has hold of Snyder's hands but Snyder slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Monte Snyder showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Snyder has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
