The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vermeer swinging wildly here.
Vermeer ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Vermeer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Icon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vermeer bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Icon's head backwards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vermeer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Icon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Icon feints the counter takedown.

Vermeer jabs Icon to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Vermeer lands with a hook. Icon tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Vermeer darts in and clinches Icon up against the cage.
Icon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vermeer walks away with a smile on his face. Icon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Icon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vermeer manages to avoid it.
Vermeer thuds a left hand into Icon's body.
Vermeer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Icon throws out a counter right but Vermeer avoids it with no problem.
Icon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Vermeer lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Vermeer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
