PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hop Sing Jung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asato Mikio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jung kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jiu Jitsu. Mikio has chosen Ain't No Grave as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Hop Sing Jung could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Asato Mikio's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikio's corner calls for a 1-2. Mikio obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Mikio with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Mikio scores with a jab. Jung acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It looks like Hop Sing Jung has been cut.
Mikio misses with a hook. Jung ducked under it nicely.
Jung feinted with a counter takedown.
Mikio gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Jung counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mikio is looking for a sweep. Jung is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jung works his way into side control.
Jung advances to mount.
Mikio is controlling an arm, preventing Jung from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jung is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mikio has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mikio!

Jung isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mikio stacks Jung on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mikio!

Mikio takes a little break here. Jung wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Jung escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mikio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jung bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mikio's guard.

Mikio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jung has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mikio has managed to get both his arms back between Jung's legs - danger averted.

Jung is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mikio is aware though and is defending well.

Mikio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jung swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jung working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mikio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mikio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mikio fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jung manages to avoid it.
Mikio throws out a loose jab but Jung uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jung drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mikio sprawls and moves away.
Jung has been working on his balance at Highland CT & Spar, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Mikio.
Mikio will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jung goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mikio is on top in guard.

Jung looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mikio has picked Jung up and slammed him! Jung can't keep hold of the triangle and Mikio manages to pass to side control!
Hop Sing Jung overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mikio seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jung does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mikio has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jung is working away from the top position though.
Jung is stalling here. Mikio is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jung seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mikio has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
