PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adams comes to the cage accompanied by Gaslight Anthem - Boxer. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Buddy Guy!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Guy did well to prevent Adams getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Adams seems to be working for a kimura but Guy defends the submission attempt.

Adams is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Guy is just riding it out for now. Adams eventually gives up the hold.

Adams has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Guy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Adams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Guy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Guy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Adams is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Guy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well Adams has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Gregory Adams decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
